The HovaCAL® N MF is a compact calibration gas generator for all gaseous components used in emission measurement technology and is the successor to the proven HovaCAL® digital. It consists of a supply unit with dosing devices for liquid and gases and an evaporator.

It has an integrated flow sensor for liquid. Optionally, a precision balance can also be used.

A self-priming peristaltic pump delivers water or reagent liquid into the evaporator. The pump is controlled by a mass flow meter (MFM) or (optionally) by a precision balance. At the same time, carrier gas or a gas mixture is dosed into the evaporator via mass flow controllers (MFCs). The liquid is completely evaporated and mixed with the gas mixture in the evaporator. The temperature is selected according to the measuring gas or the analyser.

The concentrations generated are accurate and reproducible thanks to the high-precision mass flow controllers for the carrier gas and liquid.

The elevated temperature of the generated gas vapour mixtures helps to avoid adsorption and corrosion effects and significantly reduces gas run-in time.

The HovaCAL® N MF is available in different variants:

  • HovaCAL® N 112-MF with 1 gas mass flow controller
  • HovaCAL® N 212-MF with 2 gas mass flow controllers
  • HovaCAL® N 312-MF with 3 gas mass flow controllers
  • HovaCAL® N 412-MF with 4 mass flow controllers for gas

The HovaCAL® N MF always comes with a self-priming peristaltic pump and a liquid flowmeter.

It always has two temperature control loops for the evaporator and an optional heated line.

The HovaCAL® N MF is adjusted to the desired operating range. This is largely determined by the required total gas flow. Typical values are 600 l/h or 300 l/h.

Wherever gas analysers need to be checked and the necessary test gases are not available in a suitable form, the HovaCAL® is used to generate test gas:

  • In the emission monitoring of waste incinerators, power stations and cement works. Due to the components to be monitored (HCl, HF, NH3 and HgCl2), hot-measuring analyser systems are used, which are adjusted using hot, humid test gases of these components.
  • Hot-measuring FTIR analysers are used in particular for exhaust gas analysis in motor vehicles. These analyse water vapour, nitrogen oxides, ammonia, alcohols, aldehydes and other components simultaneously. The corresponding test gas is generated using the HovaCAL®.
  • In humidity measurement technology, verification is often a challenge, because with the conventional saturation method, high water vapour contents cannot be achieved or can only be changed slowly. With the HovaCAL®, the desired humidity can be set quickly and precisely.
  • In mercury monitoring, which is considered a special feature of flue gas analysis due to its small measuring ranges, HovaCAL® is used to generate test gases with a composition similar to flue gas that contain mercury.

HovaPOR evaporator

The HovaPOR vaporiser is used to completely evaporate the dispensed liquid. It has a liquid inlet, a gas inlet and a gas outlet.

The HovaPOR vaporiser is adapted to the desired working range. This depends largely on the required total gas flow. Typical values are 600 l/h or 300 l/h.

The HovaPOR evaporator is available in versions for operation at 110 V and 230 V mains voltage.

viewCAL N software

The HovaCAL® N MF is operated via the viewCAL N MF software using a notebook or PC. Intuitive to use, it allows the input of the total gas flow as well as the input and output concentrations. All measurement data is recorded and stored. In addition, time-dependent concentration profiles can be created and run.

Consumables

The HovaCAL N MF is supplied with all the necessary consumables. Optionally, an additional complete set of consumables can be ordered. The consumables can also be reordered individually.
