HovaCAL® N SP
The HovaCAL® N SP is a precise calibration gas generator for the generation of solvent vapours (VOCs) and gas mixtures with low moisture contents. It consists of a supply unit with dosing devices for liquid and gases and an evaporator.
It has integrated, continuously operating syringe dosing pumps for liquid dosing.
The syringe metering pumps automatically draw the liquid to be dosed from the liquid reservoir and work as a highly precise volume dosing device. They are particularly suitable for organic solvents, as the components that come into contact with the media are made of PTFE and glass.
At the same time, carrier gas or a gas mixture is dosed into the evaporator via mass flow controllers (MFCs). The liquid is then completely evaporated and mixed with the gas mixture. The vaporiser is set to the desired gas temperature and can heat the gas-vapour mixture to up to 200 °C, which means that even low-volatility components can be evaporated and wall effects avoided.
As a special variant of the HovaCAL® N SP, the HovaCAL® N SPC can further dilute the generated test gas in a second stage. For this purpose, a partial flow is diverted and mixed with the dilution gas flow of another channel.

The HovaCAL® N SP is available in different models:
- HovaCAL® N 122-SP with 1 mass flow controller for gas
- HovaCAL® N 222-SP with 2 mass flow controllers for gas
- HovaCAL® N 322-SP with 3 mass flow controllers for gas
- HovaCAL® N 422-SP with 4 mass flow controllers for gas
The HovaCAL® N SP always comes with two syringe metering pumps. These operate in push/pull mode, i.e. while one syringe is dosing, the second syringe is being filled. This ensures a continuous liquid and vapour flow.
It always has two temperature control loops for the evaporator and an optional heated line.
The HovaCAL® N SP is adjusted to the desired working range. This depends largely on the required total gas flow. Typical values are 60 l/h to 300 l/h.
The following special versions of the HovaCAL® N SPC are available:
- HovaCAL® N 322-SPC with 3 mass flow controllers for gas
- HovaCAL® N 422-SPC with 4 mass flow controllers for gas
Wherever gas analysers and sensors need to be tested and the necessary test gases are not available in a suitable form, the HovaCAL® N SP is used to generate test gases:
- In immission measurement technology and indoor air monitoring, the HovaCAL® N SP makes it possible to check the measurement technology used in the low concentration range and at typical indoor humidity levels.
- In workplace monitoring, electrochemical sensors are frequently used. These react very sensitively to dry test gases. With the HovaCAL® N SP, test gases can be both humidified and generated with a defined humidity from reagent solutions (e.g. HCl, HBr, NH3, H2O2, H2CO and many others).
- When monitoring combustible vapours as part of explosion protection, the aim should be to check the gas detection systems with the solvent to be monitored. HovaCAL® N SP provides the desired test gas in the desired concentration.
- Testing of flame ionisation detectors and analysers with components such as benzene, toluene, and xylene can be carried out very quickly and easily with the HovaCAL® N SP, in both the high and low concentration ranges. The same applies to the determination of the response factors of FIDs.

HovaPOR vaporiser
The HovaPOR vaporiser is used to completely evaporate the dispensed liquid. It has a liquid inlet, a gas inlet and a gas outlet.
The HovaPOR vaporiser is adapted to the desired working range. This depends largely on the required total gas flow. Typical values are 60 l/h to 300 l/h.
The HovaPOR vaporiser is available in versions for operation at 110 V and 230 V mains voltage.
viewCAL N SP software
The HovaCAL® N SP is operated via the viewCAL N SP software using a notebook or PC. Intuitive to use, it allows the input of the total gas flow as well as the input and output concentrations. All measurement data is recorded and stored. In addition, time-dependent concentration profiles can be created and run.
Consumables
The HovaCAL N SP is supplied with all the necessary consumables. The consumables can also be reordered individually.
