HovaGAS N
The HovaGAS N is a highly variable gas mixer for the dynamic mixing and dilution of test gases and the successor to the proven HovaGAS digital.
The HovaGAS N is the state of the art device for the flexible and precise mixing of gases for checking emission measurement systems, calibrating gas chromatographs and much more.
It combines proven mass flow technology with modern, digital operating and control electronics.
The HovaGAS N is a gas mixer consisting of 2 to 8 mass flow controllers.
Thermal mass flow controllers (MFC) measure and control the flow of gases within wide limits, independently of the temperature and pressure of the gas. This is because the measuring principle detects the temperature- and pressure-independent gas mass flow via its heat transfer.
The automatic calculation of concentrations, gas flows and their control is carried out by the internal central electronics.
The mass flow controllers are calibrated to a base or reference gas (air) and have a low measurement inaccuracy of less than 1% of the set flow rate in the range between 2 and 100% of the measuring range.
The device's gas library can be used to store other gas-specific calibrations and thus other gas components for the respective gas channel.
As a special variant of the HovaGAS N, the HovaGAS N G-C can further dilute the generated test gas in a second stage. For this purpose, a partial flow is diverted and mixed with the dilution gas flow of another channel.
- Reliable
- All flows and thus the gas concentrations are traceable
- Independent of inlet pressure, outlet pressure and temperature
- Large dynamic range of 1:50 (2 – 100 % F.S.) per channel
- User-friendly
- Intuitive software with input of the desired input and output concentrations
- No need for separate calculations
- Simple generation of variable gas mixtures
- The number of required test gas cylinders can be significantly reduced
- Versatile
- For all gaseous components of emission and ambient air monitoring
- 2 – 8 gas channels can be configured
- A wide range of expansion options are possible
The HovaGAS N is available in different variants:
- HovaGAS N G2 with 2 gas mass flow controllers
- HovaGAS N G3 with 3 mass flow controllers for gas
- HovaGAS N G4 with 4 mass flow controllers for gas
- HovaGAS N G5 with 5 mass flow controllers for gas
- HovaGAS N G6 with 6 mass flow controllers for gas
- HovaGAS N G7 with 7 mass flow controllers for gas
- HovaGAS N G8 with 8 mass flow controllers for gas
The HovaGAS N is adapted to the desired operating range. This depends largely on the required total gas flow. Typical values are 60 l/h to 600 l/h.
The special version HovaGAS N G-C is available in the following variants:
- HovaGAS N G3-C with 3 mass flow controllers for gas
- HovaGAS N G4-C with 4 mass flow controllers for gas
- HovaGAS N G5-C with 5 mass flow controllers for gas
- HovaGAS N G6-C with 6 mass flow controllers for gas
- HovaGAS N G7-C with 7 mass flow controllers for gas
- HovaGAS N G8-C with 8 mass flow controllers for gas
Wherever gas analysers need to be tested and the necessary dry test gases are not available in a suitable form, the HovaGAS is used for test gas mixing and dilution:
- In emission monitoring for testing and calibration, for example for checking oxygen analysers
- For adjusting and checking the linearity of MEMS gas sensors, such as NDIR CO2 sensors or VOC sensors
- For generating very low concentrations, such as NOx concentrations in the ppb range, that are not available in test gas cylinders
- Kalrez® sealings and stainless steel pipework for corrosive gases
- Self-test to check the MFCs
- LabView® driver to integrate the HovaCAL® N MF into a customer control system
- Control of additional internal or external valves
- Filling of transportable pressure vessels
- Cascading to further reduce the output concentration of the test gas
- Case-type housing for mobile use or 19’ rack

viewGAS N software
The HovaGAS N is operated using the viewGAS N software on a notebook or PC. Intuitive to use, it allows the input of the total gas flow as well as the input and output concentrations. All measurement data is recorded and stored. In addition, time-dependent concentration profiles can be created and run. The software can be used to customise the gas library of the HovaGAS N.
