HovaCAL® N VOC
The HovaCAL® N VOC is a precise calibration gas generator for gas concentrations in the ppm, ppb and ppt range for inorganic and organic solvents (VOCs).
It has dosing devices for liquid and gases, an evaporator and a gas dilution system.
The heated, integrated and multi-stage gas dilution system means that this device can also be used to achieve extremely low concentrations for pure substances. Thanks to the heating of all gas-contacting surfaces, surface effects are largely minimised. These could otherwise lead to extreme falsifications, especially in the trace range.
The HovaCAL® N VOC has integrated, continuously operating syringe dosing pumps for liquid dosing.
The syringe dosing pumps automatically draw in the liquid to be dosed from the liquid reservoir and work as a high-precision volume dosing device. They are particularly suitable for organic solvents, as the components that come into contact with the media are made of PTFE and glass.
At the same time, carrier gas is dosed into the evaporator via mass flow controllers (MFCs). There, the liquid is completely evaporated and mixed with the gas mixture.
This gas mixture is further diluted by means of the heated, integrated and multi-stage gas dilution.

The HovaCAL® N VOC is available in different models:
- HovaCAL® N 324-VOC3 with 3 dilution stages
- HovaCAL® N 424-VOC4 with 4 dilution stages
The HovaCAL® N VOC always has two syringe metering pumps. These operate in push/pull mode, i.e. while one syringe is dosing, the second syringe is being filled. This results in a continuous liquid and vapour flow.
It always has four temperature control loops for the evaporator, the heated gas dilution and two optional heated lines.
The HovaCAL® N VOC is adjusted to the desired operating range. This is largely dependent on the required total gas flow. A typical value here is 60 l/h.
HovaCAL® N VOC is used wherever it is essential to generate reference and test gases in the ppm, ppb and ppt range accurately and reproducibly: for example, when developing trace measurement technology, such as ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) or mass spectrometry (MS).

viewCAL N software
The HovaCAL® N VOC is operated via the viewCAL N VOC software using a notebook or PC. Intuitive to use, it allows the input of the total gas flow as well as the input and output concentrations. All measurement data is recorded and stored. In addition, time-dependent concentration profiles can be created and run.
Consumables
The HovaCAL N VOC is supplied with all the necessary consumables. The consumables can also be ordered individually.
